“WOMAN LAID AT REST IN ATTIRE OF MAN,” Trinidad, Colorado, November 13, 1907. On November 11, 1907, one hundred and nine years ago today, a man who was assigned the name “Katherine” Vosbaugh at birth died in Trinidad, Colorado; two days later, the local newspaper noted the death and Catholic burial of Mr. Vosbaugh. The notice reads: “In compliance with a request made a few days before her death, the remains of Katherine Vosbaugh, who for sixty years wore male attire without her sex being discovered, were laid to rest yesterday in the Catholic cemetery garbed in male attire. Two sisters of charity and two strange women were the only attendants at the simple services held in the chapel of the undertaking company.” #HavePrideInHistory (at Trinidad, Colorado) -- source link
