Preston Mill, East Linton, East Lothian (Explored) by Baz Richardson I have never seen another watermill quite like the one near East Linton in south-east Scotland, and it makes a fascinating photographic subject. Preston Mill is on the River Tyne at the eastern edge of East Linton in East Lothian. The Category A-listed building has a kiln which was used to dry the grain and this has a conical red pantile roof. To the rear of it is a small mill with a single wheel, plus the miller’s house. The mill wheel dates back to 1909. There has been a mill on the site since the 16th century while the present one dates from the 18th century and is in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. It was used commercially until 1959, and it produced oatmeal. The River Tyne still drives the water wheel, and the machinery can still be seen at work. https://flic.kr/p/2krLYjG -- source link
