terrifiantus:The Poltergeist DeathsPoltergeist is one of the most infamous haunting movies in the entire world, and it even has it’s own curse. Legend says that many actors/actresses along with people working behind the scenes died during filming of any of the three movies or shortly after. Some have even claimed that every single main cast member is dead, which came as a surprise to the surviving cast members Craig T. Nelson, Tom Skerritt, and Jo Beth Williams. (Who, all of which, are still acting! Pretty impressive for a bunch of dead people!) However, there is some truth to the legend. Of the four cast members that died within the time that the movies came out, two were untimely and unusual. On November 4th 1982, 22 year old Dominique Dunne (who played Dana Freeling in the first movie) was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. This was four days after her boyfriend choked her into a coma, one of which she never awoke from. The first movie had only been released a few months before. On February 1st 1988, Heather O’Rourke (who played the infamous Carol Anne Freeling) passed away suddenly. What had been assumed as a mostly harmless case of the flu suddenly turned bad when Heather went into cardiac arrest during a drive to the hospital. This was caused by bacterial toxins escaping into her bloodstream via a bowel obstruction. Although her heart was successfully restarted and she was flown via helicopter to Children’s Hospital in San Diego for surgery on her bowel, the toxins in her bloodstream proved to be too much for her body to take, and she died on the operating table. Although many people INSIST that she passed away during the filming of the first movie and was replaced by a different actress, Heather starred in all three films and did not pass away until after filming for Poltergeist 3 had concluded. The other two deaths were older actors, Julian Beck and Will Sampson, but since they both suffered from illness and their deaths weren’t exactly unexpected, they’re rarely connected to the curse. While it is unlikely that the movie and it’s cast and crew are cursed, they rightly should be. It has been confirmed that real skeletons were used in many parts of the first film. Yes, you read that right. Real skeletons. This was a chosen alternative because it was apparently much cheaper than paying for realistic skeleton props. Well, if you want a cursed movie, that’s one way to go about it! -- source link
