harlequinnade:harlequinnade-deactivated201903:30 Days, 30 Monsters | day seventeen↳ The BlobIt seems like The Blob is a monster someone phoned in—maybe after blowing their nose while on the phone for a sales pitch. It may seem a bit odd for an amorphous, well, blob, to be a source of terror—but it works. Originating, as most evil things in the 50s did, from outer space, the blob is hatched from a meteorite. A fatally curious vagabond finds the meteor and is quickly consumed by the viscous being held inside. After the blob gets a taste for flesh (or any matter, honestly) it just keeps on rolling. The origin for the remake, however, is rather different and delightful enough that I’ll avoid spoiling it for you.If you ever find yourself in a conversation with an annoying know-it-all and you’re getting irritated with their predictable complaints about how horrible remakes are, throw The Blob at them. The reboot of this film is standout in every way. Luckily, my favorite scene is intact in both versions. In the third act of the film, The Blob sutures the audience member to the film in a terribly intimate way—by showing a movie theatre under attack. I don’t know what it is, but I love just about any horror movie that takes place in a theatre or a drive-in. -- source link
