Sahara and Abba had a physio appointment today, to just work on their muscles and relax their tight Arab toplines and lower necks. As usual, Sahara was very wary, but once she discovered that the massage was gooooood, she softened and released so much tension that she finally lowered her neck. She has been travelling like a giraffe for so long, so it was lovely to see what her forehand really looks like. The physio also managed to get her to hold her tail straight, rather than off to the side, while working on her hindquarters; it turns out that her right hamstring is noticeably tighter than the left, which is partly what is pulling her tail off to the side, so I now have a hamstring loosening exercise to do with Sahara. I feel, as well, that this is going to help us start moving forward with her, as she will be feeling more comfortable and better able to use her body in ways that require more strength. But for right now, I’m just pleased to see Sahara discovering how to lift the base of her neck and stretch over the top, instead of flouncing around like a giraffe. -- source link
