queerfictionwriter:cystalreeds:Best of Teen Wolf ➤ 195/???I have SO! MANY! THOUGHTS! on this scene! Like, just. Okay. I love the smarmy little bastard a whole lot, and I adore the fact that he’s running rings around the fed who’s trying to question him. I love that, as the son of the Sheriff, he recognizes interrogation techniques when he sees them–attempting to empathize, establish rapport, make it seem like it’s in his own best interest to tell the Agent what he wants to know–and Stiles? Is having N O N E of it. He doesn’t fall into any of the usual traps. He doesn’t have any tells here–he just engages in beautiful deflection and wordplay, and doesn’t give anything up. There’s no slip. He doesn’t ask for clarification on specifics and accidentally reveal that he knows something, he doesn’t get hostile or outright antagonistic, and he doesn’t act shady. He cheerfully plays dumb, when he is anything but. “Why wouldn’t I tell you?” he asks, daring Agent to give an actual reason for questioning him that he can dispute. “How am I supposed to help you help me?” he asks, daring Agent to explain what, exactly, the situation/danger is, why help is needed, why Stiles’s help is needed. He plays these sorts of games with his Dad when he’s trying to avoid getting grounded, and IT SHOWS–to the point where Agent has to change tacks every time Stiles turns it around and asks him a question, where he asks, “Are you doing this on purpose?” almost like he can’t believe it. -- source link
