I became suddenly and severely ill with a flu-like illness at the age of 13. I had muscle aches and pains, severe nausea, weakness, fatigue, dizziness, and brain fog. I went to doctor after doctor trying to figure out why I was sick. Many doctors told me I was faking my illness, I was depressed or I had a psychosomatic illness. I had a very hard time coping with my symptoms and often wondered if I really was just faking my illness— after all I had multiple doctors telling me so. My illness ultimately isolated me from friends, the severity of my symptoms forced me to drop out of school in 10th grade. It took 2 years of severe illness, over 30 doctors and a national tv program about Lyme Disease in Canada — in which my mom contacted a doctor featured on the program. I met with this doctor and was clinically diagnosed with Lyme Disease and had my blood sent to a lab in the U.S.A where it came back positive for Lyme Disease and a Co-Infection. I had a history of tick bites that no doctor ever inquired about, despite living in the most Lyme Disease endemic region in Canada. I was treated with various oral antibiotics for two years before my doctor was forced to leave his practice and his patients. In 2013 I met my Naturopath. I had my blood examined under a microscope, it was then and there that I saw the Lyme Disease spirochete Borrelia Burgdefori alive and well after two years of treatments and two out of treatment. I knew then without a doubt that I have Chronic Lyme Disease, there was no other explanation. I started my YouTube channel as a way to document my journey with Chronic Lyme Disease and to educate others about tick-borne diseases. Nearly 10 years later I’m still sick with Chronic Lyme Disease. I not only fight the disease but the stigma, ignorance, and politicism surrounding Chronic Lyme Disease everyday. Lyme Disease is preventable and curable in the early stages of the disease. Education and awareness will save other from going down the same path that I have, that is why I choose to be an advocate. @awarecauses #ChronicLyme #LymeDisease #LymeDontKillMyVibe (at Nova Scotia) -- source link
