This Exit Poll is really interesting.First, Arizona is a closed primary, so these results reflect partisan democrats.Medicare For All polling only at 58% among partisan democrats is… kinda disappointing if you support a healthcare system based on some form of M4A. We keep seeing Sanders supporters tout these numbers but, if we’re only getting a bit more than a majority among partisan democrats, it’s going to be really hard to expand those numbers among independents, particularly the truly moderate swing independents. But, if you support M4A, it could be a very good base to start developing for future election cycles. This number will have to increase among democrats if M4A advocates want it to become policy. That said, other polling shows that many democrats are equally attracted to M4A proposals as well as public option proposals. Would be more interesting to know how this was asked, as I would answer “support” to both of those ideas if the question was simply one of support lol. What’s interesting though to me, is how Bernie has made M4A the cornerstone of his campaign, it’s essentially the raison d’être for his campaign and for many of his supporters. You could even perhaps argue that Bernie has been the medicare candidate, and is sometimes ranked as the top candidate among those people who rank healthcare as their top concern. Yet, many of these voters are voting for Biden. I don’t understand how some M4A advocates went with Bernie over the other M4A candidates (Elizabeth and Kamala principally). Bernie seems to be such a poor candidate that Biden is beating him with Bernie’s own base of voters, at least on this issue. Pretty interesting. It’ll be cool to see more data come out of this round of voting. Tonight also leaves my state of New Mexico as the last state in the Southwest to vote. Will be interesting to see how the data between all the southwestern states compare after June. -- source link
