Opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics (France, 1924).The main Olympic stadium was the Stade du Colombes, pictured above. Formerly a racecourse that had been converted into the Stade du Matinin 1907, it was renamed the Stade du Colombes in 1920, and is nowknown as the Stade Olympique Yves-du-Manoir. It was refurbished forthe 1924 Games, with a total capacity of 45,000 that included seatingfor 20,000 people. The stadium hosted the opening and closingceremonies, as well as track and field, football and rugby. A newaquatics stadium and tennis courts were built nearby. -- source link
