A golden pendantof Aphrodite, from the Bactrian hoard (Tillya Tepe, modernAfghanistan). It is 5cm tall and would have been made during the 1stcentury BC.During thisperiod, most Bactrian art wasn’t “pure”; instead, the patrons ofthe local goldsmiths combined various traditions. The wings areBactrian (Aphrodite is never depicted with wings in Greek or Romanart), and the forehead mark is Indian. This pendant was found inGrave Six, on the bosom of a young woman, along with hundreds of goldspangles. -- source link
