Hi! Would you like to know about something that drives me insane? OK! Let’s go ahead and get into it! Produce stickers. OOF. Don’t get me wrong, I get that they have a use. However, you really start to realize just how annoying they are when you compost. I am able to compost because my dear friends let me dump my kitchen scraps in their compost pile. YAY! Apartment living hasn’t quite caught up with composting yet. Oh wait, did I say they have a use? Yeah, usually they do. HOWEVER, on this stupid little orange, as you can see, there is a sticker that is just a picture of an orange with a halo and a turtle and a “T.” WHAT? Why’d you guys do this to me!? This sticker doesn’t do anything! Are you trying to condition your target customer (children) to expect stupid little stickers?? Are you?? UGH! According to this article, Sweden has taken on these stupid, stupid stickers with a great alternative: replacing the stickers on organic sweet potatoes and avocados with a mark made by a laser. FUN! That seems pretty effective to me! I hope this catches on so I can stop freaking out about these stickers. I’m not kidding, I have started saving the stickers in my Bag of Shame, which means I’m realizing how I probably forgot to remove one gazillion stickers in the past. Embarrassing.Another fun little diddy: I found a post on My Plastic Free Life with an address for a man who creates art out of produce stickers. If you’re interested, follow this link! -- source link
