cma-korean-art: Vase with Bird and Flower Design, 1800s-1900s, Cleveland Museum of Art: Korean ArtKorean potters achieved excellence in painting porcelain with flowers and birds in underglaze cobalt during the late Joseon period. Because Korean potters adopted the technique of underglaze cobalt-blue decoration from China where cobalt underglaze originated in the 15th century, they devised an extensive repertoire of motifs in blue and white porcelain wares. This jar’s peony and bird were painted with loose brushstrokes.Size: Outer diameter: 34.3 cm (13 ½ in.); Overall: 49.4 cm (19 7/16 in.)Medium: porcelain with underglaze bluehttps://clevelandart.org/art/1989.117 -- source link
