femmefatty:(Picture is a text from my dad from last week)My internet is getting turned off tomorrow, and my phone is getting shut off any day now, so I can no longer put this off. Though it makes me very uncomfortable and really anxious, I have to ask Tumblr for help. TL;DR: My family needs $1400 by the 17th of January or the following happens: no power, no water, no rent, no phones, no form of transportation, no medicine, and I’m unable to finish my year at college. Here’s the story:My mother is mentally ill. Two days before Christmas she went missing and stayed missing for a little over 36 hours. We finally found out she has moved to a different town and she doesn’t want us to know where she’s living. She can’t afford to see the doctors and therapist she needs to see, so I’m really, really worried about her health. My father is trying to support four people on his sole income, and it just isn’t enough. We’ve tried to partially pay the important bills to keep our water and power on for as long as possible, but everything has to be paid in full by the 17th. We probably could have managed, but when it rains it pours, and we’ve got other serious issues: My car’s transmission stopped working. I have no way to get to work or to school. My father’s car battery died yesterday, and we can’t afford to buy a new one. He has borrowed his sister’s car, but once she asks for it back he has no way to get to work, which will be the end of us. We live in a rural area and there is no public transportation. Besides our issues with our cars, my school (ETSU) demands that I pay the remaining $630 I owe for this year by the 16th or they’ll withhold my grades and transcripts and any work I do this semester will be for nothing. I can’t afford to take out more student loans to go to school for an extra semester so I absolutely need to come up with this money. My father and I have both tried to get loans from a couple of different banks, but no one will lend him money because our house was foreclosed four years ago (minimum of six years has to pass after a bankruptcy or foreclosure to be considered in good standing for a loan) and I don’t have a credit history extensive enough to qualify for anything. We’ve tried asking our friends and family for help; my dad asked for help from the church he and my mom has attended for 30 years, and not a single person has offered to do anything but pray. When we asked our family, they called my dad a drug addict and refused to “help his addiction.” (My father sustained serious injuries after being electrocuted, he had four surgeries and he has to take Lortab, which he is in fact addicted to, but that’s common for people taking prescription pain medication. My father has never taken his medication except as directed.) Because we have no money, dad can’t afford to refill his prescriptions anyway so he is forced to ween himself off of his medication which is highly dangerous and not good for his health, and also means he is in severe chronic pain that will only get worse. It absolutely destroys my heart to hear my dad weep and weep and cry out for help and see that no one can or will help us. There’s nothing in this world I want more than to at least give him a little peace of mind, the knowledge that we have rent paid and our bills caught up and we won’t be homeless after a month. Please, PLEASE help us any way you can. I understand completely if you have no money to give, but please reblog this so others can see our plea. If you can donate, there’s a Paypal donation link on my page. If you do donate, feel free to message me so I can repay you in some way. I can give you a free Tarot reading, or draw you something, write a poem to your cat for you, be your fashion consultant via skype for a week, use your name in my novel, idk, something.Thank you so much in advance for reading this, reblogging it, and/or donating. -- source link
