Which is why finding deals on fruit this weekend made me extra happy.“Now, what could I possibly do with 2+ pints of strawberries?” You might ask. And that’s a great question.You see, fruit is not confined to your fruit bowl, destined for moldiness. Every week I buy organic bananas, strawberries, mango, or whatever is on sale. Then the SECOND I get home, that fruit is washed, cut up, bagged, and frozen. That way I have an unlimited supply of delicious frozen fruit, ready to be blended into my next smoothie. BANANA TIP:I cut my bananas into small pieces and freeze before they go bad. Then every morning I add half of one to my smoothie (which is all you need, friends). This creates far less waste and still provides you with the nutrients needed for your day. It’s perfect. So try it. Let’s make a smoothie, shall we?You’ll need a blender or Magic Bullet. If you don’t have a MB, go get one. It’s the best thing to happen to my kitchen, ever. Ok, my mum once bought me an actual Chefs apron and that was pretty bad-ass at the time. But Moving on…PEANUT BUTTER SMOOTHIEIngredients:1 T, Peanut butter½, banana3 or 4 strawberries1 cup, soy or almond milk (if you have vanilla or chocolate, use that)Ice cubes if you want (I never do) Now, you can also add more, like chocolate or avocado? SIMPLE SMOOTHIE½ Banana3 or 4 Strawberries½ Mango1 cup, your fav nondairy milkHANGOVER SMOOTHIE (Works like a charm)½ avocado1 shot, espresso1 t-1T, agave/honey or substituteMilk to the top1 t, vanilla (optional) Just BLEND! I also have a giant tub of vanilla rice protein that I add to my smoothies every morning. This gives me the satisfaction of knowing I’m adding more protein to my diet, and adds delicious vanilla flavour to all of my smoothies. Win/Win. And yes, it does cost like $50. But that thing will last you an entire year and is sure to help you start every morning on the right foot. GET CREATIVE! -- source link
