Putting out feelers for illustrator/s for educational materialThe topic will be rat care and welfare. Uses may include printable educational sheets to distribute to pet and produce stores, care guides, and digital educational material. Some materials may be distributed to places with permission to reproduce and share freely for educational purposes, others may be monetised, either by myself or by a certified not for profit rat rescue. The artist will retain the copyright (ie, can’t resell it but can include it in portfolios), and I will own the artwork, with exclusive use and permission to use it freely only in the circumstances agreed in writing beforehand. Using the art for additional purposes (idk, making stickers to fund-raise for the rescue) may not be done without written permission of the artist, in which case I would negotiate an additional payment.(Standard for illustrating)Style should be clean and lined and high quality, and must be able to deliver an appropriate size/format/resolution for the purpose. (No 150x150 MSPaint doodle .jpgs please, we’re in vector territory)I’m open to multiple illustrators if we can match a cohesive style, some assets may be diagrams from provided references (for example, structure of a rat nail and where to cut correctly)I am 100% happy to pay in USD/partial USD for the right illustrator, but that depends on how well the style fits, how we work together, etc. I super strongly value communication, and this will likely be a long term project, I won’t be running on a tight deadline and am flexible with delivery times so long as things are realistic and communication is open. For context, I run a not-for-profit rat rescue full time on a purely volunteer basis. I have for 3 years now, and although we’re growing and getting closer, we’re not at the point where it’s viable to pay myself or anyone else a wage at our current income. A lot of the materials I intend to create, will be created on my own time and distributed without any payment, such as printable care guides and info for pet shops, that are desperately needed in a country which sees rats as disposable and knows very little about their care.My long term goal is to produce a care guide, a book that can be updated and would be the first to describe rat care in an Australian context, where the genetics and diseases are completely different. I’m in a good position to do so, and if successful, would provide an income source that would allow me to keep rescuing full time.Thread is [here], serious offers only please.
