russian-support:kasaron:wrinklestickskin:kasaron:pragneto:xanthophiliac:So much truth here about every Eurocentric fantasy world.Ouch. Remind me to reply to this with my new map tonight after I wake up, please.@kasaron don’t forget to respond to this with your new map tonight after you wake up, please.Orange; Nafrin. Blue-skinned humanoids with metallic-colored hair. They, at one point held the ENTIRE northern part of that map, but collapsed due to political infighting, over extension of resources, endless wars, and corruption. Their homeland is temperate to subtropical; they have one of the largest navies, next to the Avur and Ijosai.Magenta; Terran; mostly nomadic in nature, they have recently started settling down in fortresses and city states, especially along the coastline and moving to a more agrarian society. Cultural bleedover from the Nafrin has caused a lot of culture shock for them.Purple; Cranid. The tallest and least humanoid of all the species, they have 6 compound eyes, long, lanky limbs, and dark, velvet-like skin. They can spin threads of silk which are stronger (tensile) than steel. They live in a subtropical “stone forest” which is the result of rain erosion on a large limestone plateau. Green; Ijosai. With sharklike features and a propensity for wild blue tattoos, they may outwardly appear savage, but they are a tightly knit confederation of states, whose navy is second to none. While most live on tropical islands, their territory actually encompass the entire of the western sea acripelligo, and some coastal lands.Red; Davien. Roan-skinned, with long, thin tails which end in a small tuft of their signature glossy black hair; they have dominion over most of the continent. Shaded as it is from the trade winds by the steep mountains to the west; much of the continent is a barren desert, with rare oasis’s and a single, immense river whose path is dotted by trade cities and fortresses. Teal; Avur. Bird-like in appearance, these humanoids have at their disposal both great amounts of land as well as a bountiful stockpile of iron. Though technically they have much of this land under their ostensible dominion, much of it is too cold to inhabit or get a fruitful harvest from, and the rest is hotly contested by the Davien, Ijosai, and Nafrin. They have an impressive and imposing navy, and their standing army is nothing to sniff at.Yellow; Mortei. Their supreme camouflage; bark-like skin as well as hair that could be mistaken for lichen, is a supreme asset in their inhospitable land. Heavily isolationist, they rarely trade with anyone, save for occasional exchanges with the Ijosai (often wood and other building materials for salted fish and other perishables). The Nafrin once tried to claim dominion over their lands. It did not end well.Note; these are rough borders; in reality there’s a lots of overlap in what each society assumes belongs to them; for example that “unclaimed land” in the northwest is actually hotly contested by Nafrin, Terran, Ijosai, and Davien, as well as Elemeis (a race not imaged here because they have no traditional homeland or country at this time). Much of the borders are in flux and it’s not uncommon to see mixed-race societies and even whole independent city-states everywhere, with their own macro-cultures and laws. This is mostly due to the sheer instability of the times that led up to the current point; With Nafrin on the wane and Terran on the wax, and Cranids making a serious bid for more land with which to farm and live, a lot of this is up for grabs.Who the fuck is equating dwarves with jews? What kind of crackhead developed fantasy novels are you reading op?Tolkien actually took inspiration from Hebrew text and Jewish history for The Dwarves. However some people just hear “Jews inspired the dwarves” and take it to a real ugly Mel Gibson type of thinking. -- source link
