ave-aria:ROTGHalloween2020 - @rotg-halloweenDay 4: Magpies (Ship: Blackice) - He’d always been fond of magpies. Most expected him to favor ravens - Nevermore, Nevermore - but something always drew him to their brighter, wicked siblings, instead. The birds reminded him of something, or maybe someone. He could never put his finger on what, though. The sparkle of intelligence in their eyes, one all corvids had. Their covetous nature, snatching up any shiny scrap they took a liking to. Their territorial nature, one that left them swooping at those who came too close to the things they prized. The color of their wings, black cut with white, and the just-there sheen of iridescent blue down the back… “Pitch?” Jack asked, drawing him out of his reverie. He turned to find Jack in his lair, a white-and-blue spot bright against the dark. Pitch stopped stroking the bird on his shoulder and turned to watch Jack flitter up the stone staircase to the shadowed ramparts where he stood. Jack lit on the brickwork wall closest to him, smiling a little bit when he noticed the birds. Using two fingers to reach out and gently stroke its feathered head, Jack spoke; “Sorry, didn’t realize you had company. You got a minute?” Pitch smiled at the spirit perched in front of him. Carefully, he cupped the bird from his shoulders - the creature came willingly - and transferred it to Jack’s hoodie, sparkling bright with blue ice. “I always have time for my little magpies,” he said, with a territorial grin. “Now, what exactly did you need?” -- source link
