asynca:asynca:One of these, Talon did via force. The other, Overwatch did via blackmail. Both essentially against the subject’s will. Because I’ve had a lot of comments on this post saying that Genji freely agreed to join Overwatch, please consider:“Join us and we’ll save your life,” is not a free choice if you’re dying. That’s fucking blackmail. Furthermore, clearly the details of how Overwatch planned to save Genji were sketchy because he was very unhappy with the outcome. What Overwatch did to Genji made him deeply unhappy, and so to suggest what Overwatch did was morally good and fine and Genji did it of his own ‘free’ will is imho inaccurate. Genji was dying, Overwatch offered to save him and rebuild him in exchange for joining them and being their robot ninja. Dude, Genji was just as deepy unhappy with Overwatch as Widow is with Talon. These stories are comparable. I’m interested in how much of an extent the UN had in this decision, because it seemed like Overwatch was really bound to their word and disobeying orders like in the Uprising comic wasn’t a common occurrence. -- source link
