Not only did it come out the same month as the 2nd Chipmunk movie (which is trash but it made double what TPATF did). You remember what came out literally one week after it?Avatar. It went up against what was the highest grossing film of all time (until Endgame). They played themselves. This wasn’t even the first time they pulled the “release it at the same time as Harry Potter” stunt. They also did this with Treasure PlanetMild rebuttal: Spider-Verse. 3D’s got tons of problems, as a practitioner of the art, I’m keenly aware of them. But Spider-Verse will always, always, ALWAYS look good because of its hybrid nature and because it wasn’t afraid to be stylized. Because it eliminated motion blur and got snappy with its action on 2s. Because everything was deeply intentional and cohesive. I will forever be in awe of what that movie alone did for my entire medium. -- source link
