Whichford House (Warwickshire, England).Whichford House was built during the 17th century as St.Michael’s Refectory. Some of the rooms were removed in the 18thcentury so the classical frontage, which began in the 1740s, could becompleted. During this century, the house also gained an openstairwell, stone chimneypiece, and wood panelling in the main rooms.Rector Richard Langston preached against Cromwell during the EnglishCivil War, earning his wrath. The house was badly damaged by theRoundhead George Purefoy. Purefoy was a nortorious commander inWarwickshire, and those living near the garrisons sufferedparticularly from forced labour and kidnapping.Whichford House ceased to be used as a refectory in 1954. -- source link
