terpsikeraunos:apparently the original version is in girum imus nocte ecce et consumimur igni, (we go into a circle by night, look!, and we are devoured by fire) which is in dactylic hexameter (and considerably more impressive as a metrical palindrome). it’s a riddle about moths flying in circles around a candle, and though it was attributed to vergil, it’s probably a medieval writing exercise. it only works if you spell gyrum with an i, so there’s a slight reach on the creator’s part. 9/10. -- source link
