Ms. Codex 1082, called Pasquillus in aulicos, is a poem, usually in rhymed couplets, apparently commemorating the occasion of Friedrich IV von Wied becoming the archbishop of Cologne. It was written in Cologne in ca. 1563. The poem traces and comments upon the history of the archbishopric beginning with the earlier tenure of Friedrich’s uncle, Hermann V von Wied, who had been forced to resign after being in the post for 32 years. The entirety of the poem, from fols. 1r to 4r are shown here so those of you hoping to work on your German reading knowledge this summer, add this to your list of texts! For the manuscript description please see OPenn; http://openn.library.upenn.edu/Data/PennManuscripts/html/mscodex1082.html -- source link
