chronicillnessproblems: natalieford:chronicillnessproblems: shortcakewithfandoms:chronicillnessproblems:Yes I do eat a balanced diet, I have seven different flavors of Ensure. #GastroparesisLife I can only stomach the chocolate flavored, but then again I was only presented with chocolate, vanilla, and unflavored. What other flavors are there? Chocolate’s the one my stomach likes the least, but I save it for good days. I’ve never had unflavored! I haven’t tried any of the fruit or clear varieties, but in original there’s strawberry, vanilla, coffee late, butter pecan, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate. Ensure Plus just has chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Butter pecan and coffee are harder to find though, I only saw them for the first time in my area today. I don’t know if we can get Endsure in the UK, perhaps we can, but I do wonder if there is a lactrose-free/dairy-free alternative for those of use that would be made more ill by the lactose… Ensure is available in the UK by prescription, but I’m not sure if it’s available in stores as readily as in the US. Ensure is 99% lactose free and suitable for lactose intolerance, but not suitable for galactosemia. There’s also Boost, which I think is the same way. I made a list awhile ago of some other brand meal replacement shakes that are allergen free, it’s here! Do you know if there are any dairy free meal replacements available by prescription in the UK? I can tolerate lactose in pills now but have a life threatening allergy to both parts of milk - lactose and milk protein (to which I’m more sensitive) so it seems risky to use ensure but I’ve got a stomach ulcer which brings a lot of my food back up despite meds and gaviscon, and lifelong constipation worsened dramatically by high dose opiates to the point where I can struggle to eat when it’s bad and where my bowel program is unpleasant.I’m also dependent on care to be fed, which is not always reliable. Given this constellation of problems my gp advised keeping a couple of meal replacement drinks in for when needed but the allergen issue has put us off. -- source link
