swprequels: Gurland had been privately rooting for Christensen from the moment she had first met him. “I had a very strong sense about Hayden right off,” Gurland admitted. “He was incredibly charismatic and nice-but there was something more than that. He had this easygoing, vulnerable side, but you could also see him developing into something dangerous.” Gurland’s belief in Christensen’s potential only magnified after the screen test. “When I saw him on camera,” Gurland said, “you could almost feel the electricty coming off the screen. So I was very excitied, and thought he was the right choice.” Lucas, too, had a strong initial reaction to Christensen, and chose him as one of the two final actors in contention for the role. “One of those actors had a more lighthearted way about him,” Lucas explained, “and would have had to play darker in this movie, and even more so in the next movie. I chose Hayden, who had more of a dark side, knowing I would have to play up his lighter, more naive side at the beginning of this movie, then gradually let his darker side come out.”Star Wars: Mythmaking - Behind the Scenes of Attack of the Clones by Jody Duncan -- source link
