I loved it. But at school on Monday I couldn’t explain how everything was different now because nobody had seen it. They thought my Darth Vader impression was just asthma. Then the movie comes out and everybody’s saying it’s the greatest thing ever but I saw it first. I have been a Star Wars fan two weeks longer than any of you.”Wow I… I cant believe Stephen Colbert made such a good argument on how that would work. Bravo. He’s an unabashedly overeducated nerd. He showed up the lore expert that Peter Jackson deferred to for the Lord of the Rings movies, I’m not surprised to see him laying down the law on Star Wars too.The funniest thing about this is that the Light Saber was made from a fractured crystal so WITHOUT KNOWING THIS his conclusion is spot on. The crystal that sustains the plasma beam is broken in places and refracts the laser out the sides and instead of letting the weapon burn it’s own sides and build up enough energy to explode itself it has the exhaust vents that conveniently also make up the hilt. This design is for function and it also protects the hand and makes for a cool design all at once. So even if I think it’s a LITTLE SILLY it still makes sense. -- source link
