glorygirl1: In the @fitnessmagsa issue of this month I write about my transition journey from being a physique athlete - where your “outside look” is subjectively valued and rewarded - to being a real athlete (endurance in this case) where performance is accurately measured and awarded. I don’t have anything against fitness pageants or fitness model competitions, heck, that’s how my business and brand got started and I’m always grateful for my achievements in the industry. What DOES cause the bile rising in my throat is that some/most/we women feed off the acknowledgement and social “Wow’s” that comes with having an esthetic physique and start basing their identity and self worth in what they look like and how popular they are with the double tap of a finger… And they (I’m very often one of ‘them’) forgot that what is really, really important is the service and contribution we make to our families and communities. Are we changing lives from a heart perspective? How DARE I write this? Because I’ve been trapped in that whirlpool of always trying to look like I fit into a bikini/fitness/figure mold and never ever be satisfied with the WOMAN that I am and growing into. Amen. #selfworth #womenempowerwomen #findthebalance #youaregoodenough -- source link
