mari-musing: I thought I’d rock some Mondrian colour for today’s short, sharp ride. Goal #1 was to beat my debut Wake Up Legs time trial segment. YES! Queen of the Mountain - gotta love that crown - and top of the leaderboard…out of two, lol, but it’s my segment and the primary goal is to race against myself. It was a bit tough grinding into a headwind before I was warmed up but that’s how it goes when you head out late! Funny thing though; I passed a guy who obviously didn’t like being overtaken by a female and started busting his guts to get back past me. He achieved his goal just as I was turning left into a through-path, cutting in front without signalling. clubathletica and I call that MDIFO (My Dick Is Falling Off) Syndrome. Then he pulled off at the beach and stopped, probably to head off a heart attack. Goal #2 was to finish with an average of 25kph or above at the front door. Nope. I’d put everything into the TT - max HR 183bpm - and had nothing left in the tank going up the twin hills of the Ventnor-Cobb Street Crest. I’ll get there, barring set-backs. The last two weeks have been the first time I’ve felt even remotely strong since I had the iron infusion but my blood picture still leaves a lot to be desired (my GI has ordered extra tests). But riding is not just about times and speeds - it’s about having fun, loving the scenery, and enjoying the ride! -- source link
