vintagegeekculture:evilhorse:I remember the original Shield. If I remember right, I heard that, had the Impact! comics Shield series lasted beyond 12 issues, someone else would have assumed the identity of the Shield. The idea was that it would be an anthology, with a different person every year putting on the Shield invulnerability suit. The first story arc was about a soldier who’s Dad pushed him to become the Shield, the next year, it would have been someone else. Impact! Comics was easily the most interesting of the attempts to revive the Archie Comics superheroes (yes, there was a time Archie Comics made superhero books, but they were phased out in favor of the teen comedy comics - though there were several attempts to revive them). I especially loved the female Jaguar. I’d love to find a box of the compete IMPACT! Comics to read. They were so studiously put together that you could tell how careful and caring the creators were being. They were perfect all ages fun that adults could appreciate too. A style that would be later embrace and perfected in BAT:TAS -- source link
