larpcouture: Elanor dismounted her bicycle and began setting up camp. The infantry had five hours to rest before they needed to ride off again. Her whole body ached from the work- but her nether regions were surprisingly comfortable, just as the alchemist promised. The cream, combined with the soft leather, had worked wonders. Elanor got a few strange looks when she shook herself out with delight. She didn’t care; the lieutenant would want to hear about this. ~ Bicycle shorts were invented shortly after the bicycle, to deal with the discomfort that comes from having a small and unforgiving seat in a delicate place over great distances. It was the 1920s-1930s that the garment we’d recognize as bike shorts was invented; it was made, at the time, from dark wool with chamois lining (source). In 1986 DuPont invented a material that worked just as well, but until that point, soft animal hide was what went there. PS Bicycle infantry was a real thing!
