wy-thoughts asked you: I have a question on jewelry tools - are pliers bought from hardware stores same as those bought from craft stores? I’m asking because of the disparity in prices I observed..Truebluemeandyou: I’d say no (but people can disagree with me). You can buy sets of jewelry pliers at Michaels (40% off) or on Amazon for really reasonable prices (check customer reviews - you don’t want to buy really cheap ones that are going to break or dent). A really good beginners’ site is My Girlish Whims. I’ve posted some of her jewelry lessons on this blog when I’ve felt that other tutorials I’ve posted haven’t explained certain steps fully for beginners. She has a really good list of essential jewelry tools and findings here with the three essential pliers needed: http://www.mygirlishwhims.com/2011/11/jewelry-lessons-essential-jewelry-tools.html. Above Photos are from My Girlish Whims. Also, some other links that may be useful:This is a really good site that also lists the three essential pliers needed to make jewelry and lots of optional but useful tools: http://www.how-to-make-beaded-jewelry.com/beading-tools.htmlThanks I Made it made a list here: http://www.thanksimadeitblog.com/2012/07/the-essential-diy-tool-kit-part-1.html http://cre8tive.hubpages.com/hub/Essential-Jewelry-Making-Tools-For-Beginnershttp://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/jewelry-making-and-beading-for-dummies-cheat-sheet.html# -- source link
