dailyplantfacts:Coffea arabica, the coffee plant, is in the family Rubiaceae. Coffee is the most important crop plant in the world, and is the second most valuable international commodity after oil. Originally native to tropical East Africa, including Sudan and Ethiopia, it is now cultivated in many parts of South America and Asia as well. The red fruits are picked and the seeds are removed. The seeds are then dried and roasted and shipped across the world to produce the coffee drink. There are over 20 million coffee farms worldwide, with a current export value of over $20 billion annually! Follow for more plant facts and photos! -- source link
