theundiscoveredcontinent:thecarvingwitch:gunslingerannie:littlewiggy:peripateticfangirl:huffpostbooks:What’s Your Book Shelfie Style?personal significance mixed with chronologicalStacked for space, genre, alphabetical by author, special shelf for personal meaning. I don’t fuck around with my book organization.Mine are sorted by theme; there’s a shelf for my collection of old books, a shelf for my massive collection of Holmesiana, a shelf for comics, a shelf for my Garth Nix (of which I have a great many), a (section of) a shelf for Tolkien etc. Within those sections things are just put wherever with the exception of the Holmesiana, which is chronological. The manga collection, however, IS sorted alphabetically by title, as is the DVD collection.Typically I organize by personal significance, with the subsections being by author, genre, and sizeMovies alphabetically by title. Books by theme/genre (fairy tales and picture books, art books), size, alphabetically by author, and then numerically for series. First: by the genre - novels here, science books there. Second: by the size - this book would not fit here, then it goes there. Third: by the theme - medieval, folk tale, others. And then I arrange them aesthetically. In other words: they are stacked. -- source link
