chelsearuns: According to our current training program, Monday is cross training day— so mom and I planned for a bike ride. Cycling is definitely something I can see myself loving— but I am currently 0% interested in spending money on a bike. Anyone who is into cycling can tell you— getting yourself a good bike and all the things that go with it is going to cost a pretty penny. My mom used to be pretty big on cycling— and still has her $1000 bike frame that you can pretty much lift off the ground with your pinky finger alone. Luckily her boyfriend who the same height as me just purchased himself a Cannondale and very nicely allowed me to use it since he’s only in town on the weekends. What luck, eh? It was awesome. We were planning on a 20 mile ride out and back, but as soon as we made it to the “out” and were turning around for the “back,” we realized that throughout the whole ride a storm had been brewing behind us. Cue the call to our own personal rescue team, mom’s boyfriend (who happened to still be in town, thank goodness). He met us just as the rain and lightning started to get intense. Our hero! Our ride ended up being: 11.6 miles, 59:48 minutes, 11.64 miles per hour (5:09 minutes per mile) Despite being cut short, it was a fun work out. The only thing I have to complain about it how sore my butt and hands are today… -- source link
