cranktastic: Went for a sunny day explore yesterday, down San Andreas road and to the dead end of Beach road. There was a dune in amongst the trees, and footprints leading alluringly over the top. I could not resist. Off with the shoes and socks, then shouldered Baby up. Sand, cold and delicious on my hot-from-riding and now free feet. I crested the dune and BAM, ocean. A long sandy beach. I strolled down and sat on the sand for a bit. Such a gorgeous day. February 4th and no knee warmers needed (and no arm warmers I either, but I had a long sleeve jersey on so couldn’t take that off). Powered back through the dull berry fields and past a flowering stand of Wattle trees. Suddenly homesick and struck with the realization that I haven’t been home since I broke my wrist in May 2010. At least I’m closer now. We are joined at both sides by the Pacific. -- source link
