sagansense:PEOPLE OF AMERICA, THIS JUST IN : NO LONGER ARE HUMANS ALLOWED TO REFER TO THE STARS AS OBJECTS YOU CAN WISH UPON OR CLAIM ARE FALLING.Everything is essentially “falling” toward a central gravitational source, and the only objects actually “falling” into our closest source of gravity - the Earth - are chunks of rock and ice from orbiting asteroids or comets traversing through this solar system.Stars are fueled by a process of nuclear fusion throughout the interior of their cores, which are the only places where the principle elements (think: periodic table), which everything is made up of, are being produced. The essential elements for the creation of life are produced specifically amongst the larger, more massive stars, called red giants. All stars have life cycles just as everything else. However, this specific type of star exhausts its ability to fuse hydrogen with the constituent elements that aid it to shine and thrive, and by the collapse of gravitational force within the central core of its mass, the star explodes. This is referred to as a supernova, which are extremely bright that can cause a burst of radiation sometimes shining as bright as the center of an entire galaxy. The aftermath of that event is referred to as a supernova remnant, which means - the leftover or remaining quantity of something - when photographed or viewed through on ground or in space telescopes, presents us with the opportunity to see the interiors of stars in a different way, which is what you see in the photo above. When it explodes, it disperses (up to hundreds to thousands of light years away) its “makeup” up those particles and elements vital for organic material to be produced, ‘the ingredients for life’. The gas, dust, elements and nature of gravity, eventually begin to fall toward each other and begin to coalesce, where stellar formation then begins over time, just as natural as the formation (and extinction) amongst epochs of life on this planet, creating new stars with significant elements which we diagnose, measure, see and apply to each kind of star, along with ours, the sun, through a field of science spectroscopy. Why is this important? Because the fundamental elements that comprise you, me and everything around us, are being produced - created - inside the cores of these stars. We are not the byproduct of some mystical force unbeknownst to us, or by the hands of a fascinating and all-knowing deity, at least as far as we can tell - so weStars continue to fuel themselves and thrive dependent on their molecular makeup, which is why certain stars are different colors. Upon looking closer to individual stars, we’ve discovered 2,036 stars with 2,740 planets (some like ours, some 5 times our size, others like Jupiter but 8 times larger…and for perspective, over 1,321 Earths could fit inside Jupiter, and others) which some have the ability to harbor life, because they exist in the same relative distance to their sun/star as we do. This region is uniquely referred to as the “goldilocks zone” or the habitability zone. And this is just the beginning of stretching our ability to do this.No more wishing allowed. We shouldn’t need to wish, we should already be aware of this instead of being out of touch with this kind of knowledge due to America’s anti-science attitude toward understanding the world as it actually is.A SCIENTIFICALLY LITERATE SOCIETY DOESN’T WISH UPON THE STARS, IT EXPLORES THEM. -- source link
