bicycle-touring-apocalypse: Another bike I’ve not featured on here for a while. The @surlybikes Instigator 2.0 doesn’t seem to have gotten the same amount of press as the other models in the range. I guess most riders are choosing the company for adventure rigs and the Instigator is more of a hardcore trail bike. However, it’s also the most versatile bike I own. This is my go to bike for life on the road because it can do everything. I lock out the front forks when I’m just riding about town and it’s nimble enough to put in the miles, I’ve taken it on numerous multi day Bikepacking adventures and of course round trails it’s just a blast. The big advantage for someone taller like myself is that due to the 26” wheels this bike ( even with the XL frame ) packs down super small. This has been so nice when I’m living in the van somewhere I don’t want the bike on the rear rack and it lives inside with me. Once the wheels are off it slides into the corner and takes up little room. The seating position is unquestionably more aggressive than my ECR but I also love it for Bikepacking. The front sus is a real treat and the bike encourages me to pack lighter ( in this shot my set-up was a little odd as I forgot my frame bag….doh! ) #surlybikeshttps://www.instagram.com/p/B_CTsSkgqiC/?igshid=ngplt4utqyb0 -- source link
