krxs10:Another Hashtag Goes Unaccounted for, No Charges for Cop Who Shot Man in BackCobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds said that the Cobb Grand Jury reviewed the facts and the evidence in the March 24, 2015, shooting death of Nicholas Thomas, who died from a single gunshot to his upper back on his right side by police, and determined the shooting was justified.Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds said in a statement that he had sympathies with Thomas’s family and called the loss of life “unfortunate.” However, he understood why the officers took the course of action outside the Goodyear tire store.“But when he drove the vehicle toward officers in the manner he did, the officer who fired the shots was justified under the law to use lethal force,” the statement says, as cited by AP. “Police officers in Georgia are authorized to fire their weapons to protect themselves or others from immediate bodily harm. That is what happened in this case.”They determined that since the car was allegedly moving towards the police officers at a dangerous speed, it was a “matter of life or death.” Even though witness accounts and video show the police were lying.Brittney Eustache, a customer at the Goodyear Tire store where police killed Nicholas, witnessed the entire incident and immediately gave her account to local reporters. She said the police, who have publicly stated that Nicholas was charging at them in his car, are lying. This would explain why no bullet holes are in the front windshield of the car Nicholas was driving, but are located in the passenger side windows.“They were standing behind the car, opening fire on him. He wasn’t driving towards them. The car was not moving when they began to shoot at him. The car had been stopped. He had hit the curb and couldn’t go any further.”Also, based on the placement of the car, the police would have been standing on the grass for Nicholas to have been driving the car at them—which makes no sense. The Grand Jury recommended no further action be taken in the case.Source / Source / Source#StayWoke -- source link
