Have you ever been afraid to look at yourself in the mirror because of the fear/sadness/insecurity that reflected back to you? I definitely have. This self-defeat has plagued me for the majority of my life thus far. I grew up dreading going swimsuit shopping because of the embarrassment I’d have to face that was my body in the dressing room mirrors. Summer was my favorite time of the year because I genuinely loved swimming, but it also meant bearing the weight of my insecurities regarding my body. I’ve gone through a lot of life lessons that have challenged my understanding of beauty and what having confidence means. I never thought I’d be able to be confident in a body with fat, cellulite, rolls, scars, and the likes. Yet here I am living a full life where I celebrate myself and feel confident in the skin that I am in - despite what it looks like! Wearing a bikini was a huge milestone for me on my body-love journey, and as soon as I felt liberated enough to wear one in public I knew I had overcome a huge personal obstacle and achieved a huge personal victory.
