cuppa-darjeeling:foundingfatherfest:Thomas Jefferson’s alcove bed.Jefferson refused to do anything normally.It was supposed to be for air flow but once he became president he regretted it because people kept invading his privacy just to catch a glimpse of him. He also probably found needing to vault over his bed on occasion both cumbersome and obnoxious. I feel like I would get really claustrophobic in that thing -- source link
