I really hate hinge joints.Finished prototype of Warbat/Nozuki from Godzilla vs Kong that I modeled and 3d printed with articulation :D Used the trailer and some of the toys as references with some artistic changes (will update once the film comes out). Some parts aren’t sanded down like I normally would but it added so much detail and weathering, giving it a lot character that I like (you can see this especially in the back/spine region) .I’m happy that each hinge works but I hate the overall effect. Building it to scale meant that I was limited in terms of what kinds of joints I could use and their strengths differed with each one. Ball joints wouldn’t have worked and the clip on/slip on wings (the c-shaped joint that “holds” a rod or cylinder) broke off relatively easy. My only option was to use hinge joints and there was only so much I could build upon that. Unfortunately I couldn’t extend the wing webbing throughout each section since each joint eyelet needed so much clearance space. This made it easy to articulate but I hate the overall look of it since it kind of looks like long spindly legs. I might try fabric in a later build and, quite honestly, I’m more than happy to experiment and incorporate new ideas in future builds (it’s never too late to learn new things!).I know the tips of the wings are supposed to be lighter but I took the artistic liberty to leave it. Plus…it looked like it got a French manicure if I left it white .___.I’ve been recording some of my recent builds and have looked at redoing some older models. Might have videos in the near future :DOn another note, I beat Scylla in terms of the frequency of supergluing myself to a model…so there’s that. -- source link
