nighttyger:gazophylacium:Decoratively painted beehives, Zalipie, Poland.[Image description - four beehives in a row, sitting under a shade tree in front of a fence covered with plants on a bright, sunny day. Each beehive is painted with flowers of a different type and color, though the types aren’t distinguishable due to distance and obscuring foliage. From the left, the first hive’s flowers are red, the second hive’s are yellow, the third hive’s are blue, and the fourth hive’s are pink. End description.] This might not actually be entirely for decorative purposes - when you have multiple beehives, beekeepers will often paint each one with a different color/symbol, which helps the bees to distinguish between hives. These hives are definitely much more ornate than would be strictly necessary for that, but given that they’re all sporting different colors and types of flowers, it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that those paintings are sporting a dual purpose! -- source link
