ryderdai:Growing up, I’d been told repeatedly that I was not black enough because of the way I spoke, the way I walked, and the area I grew up in. It scared me into a hole away from my black peers for fear of ridicule because I was not a part of their culture. All of that changed when #growingupblack began to trend and I saw more and more that I indeed was part of the culture. I am no longer afraid to claim that I’m black. There is less criticism that comes my way for my dialect and manner of speech. I am now comfortable in my own skin knowing this large part of my identity is in fact valid. I’m black, I’m quirky, and I’m proud. Happy Blackout y'all.Go head sir!!! -- source link
