whileoutriding Further experiments in carrying gear… Despite the need for a support rack of some kind (and the fact that modern seatbags are lighter), I’m a big fan of traditional saddlebags for multi-month trips, mainly because they’re so easy to access and they can expand like accordions depending on how much food/water/cold weather gear/electronic gadgetry/carrots I need to carry. But for our bikepack around Nevado de Toluca, I figured I can save over a kilo and make the bike a little easier to push by slimming down to an ultralight rollbag on my minimal Rat King rear rack, with extra gear attached to a couple of ti King Cage Manything Cages (both of which I have with me anyway). I love to parenthesis short range, hike-a-bike style loops within longer trips, and this feels like a good way of getting the best of all worlds. -- source link
