jillraggett: Plant of the Day Monday 20 June 2016 A sea of foliage from Hosta ‘Francee’ (plantain lily). This clump-forming perennial has broadly heart-shaped, strongly veined leaves edged with white, later funnel-shaped lavender flowers will rise above the foliage. This plant grows best in fertile, moist but well-drained soil with shelter from cold, dry winds. It tends to be a favourite snack for slugs and snails but this clump has survived!
