rodeo-adv-labs: I don’t often really review my builds but imma start with this one because I’m so in love with it: @eastoncycling EC70 AX Bar. We’ve put these on a bunch of customer bikes but I’ve never ridden one myself. After only four rides it’s easily my favorite handlebar now. I had a 42cm carbon bar on my most recent Donkey build but I went back to 44 on this bike which is definitely the right size. But what’s really great on these bars are the mild flare and great ergo on the drop position. Riding dirt in the drops on these makes me laugh out loud. It’s like driving a monster truck. So much control with that wider position. I generally like to make fun of super wide flare bars but these mild flares are just . I think the monster truck feeling also comes with the 47mm @wildernesstrailbikes Byway tires. I ride these tires a lot and honestly I like to make fun of them because what’s the point of a semi heavy monster slick with laughable side knobs? Well, the point is that I ride 15 miles of pavement to the trails of then 10 miles of singletrack the 15 paved miles home. There is no perfect tire for that but these puppies at 30psi are the best compromise out there. When I’m on the road I hit manhole covers on purpose just because I can and when I’m off road the volume lets me smash into rocks and and shred almost as well as a real mountain bike can. Almost.
