weeberry:Rococo wonders: White Hall of WurzburgThere is a Baroque palace in Wurzburg, Germany, that used to belong to the Prince-Bishops Schönborn. So the palace is a kind of a parsonage. “The nicest parsonage in Europe”, they say Napoleon called it.The Wurzburg Residence has many beautiful rooms, but in this post I’m presenting you the White Hall or Weisser Saal, an audience chamber decorated with stucco in rococo style. Stucco means much the same as plaster. The artist behind this gorgeous work is Antonio Bossi, who finished the masterpiece in a matter of months and then went mad.I don’t own any of the pictures. And I’m not sure how much truth there is to the Napoleon quote either. But I do think the White Hall of Wurzburg is unbelievably beautiful. -- source link
