Birds’ Twitter and Fragrance of Flowers - by Wan Liya. Bristol City Museums. “22 slip-cast porcelain objects decorated with delicate painted designs in enamel colours over a clear glaze. The porcelain objects are each slip-cast in moulds to resemble one of eleven contemporary utilitarian and industrial shapes, including: soft drink cans, plastic soft drink bottles, handwash containers, tubes of toothpaste, kitchen cleaner sprays, glass coke bottles, plastic toilet cleaner containers, paper coffee cups and milk cartons. The delicate enamel decoration depicts songbirds, bamboo, plum branches covered in blossoms and other flowers, all evoke a luxuriant garden landscape. The subject matter, style and colour palette dominated by pinks and purples directly reference 18th century Chinese porcelain decorated in the famille rose palette.” -- source link
