We’re excited to start rolling out some big changes happening here at the Museum as part of an exciting initiative funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies called #BloombergConnects. Here we’ll be updating you on these changes as they happen so say tuned!Step one of our lobby transformation is complete–our admissions desk has been removed to make room for the new furniture components designed by Situ Studio as part of our Bloomberg Connects visitor experience initiative. While on the surface new furniture might not seem that exciting, we’re pretty stoked because this furniture is unique. As Situ Studio Partner Aleksey Lukyanov-Cherny puts it:“For us, the most compelling aspect of our involvement is that the entire suite of furniture we are designing and fabricating is flexible and dynamic - allowing for a variety of programs and functions that provide for a richer, more vibrant visitor experience.” Right now Situ is putting the finishing touches on these dynamic pieces, which will be arriving in groups over the coming weeks starting with new ticketing desks.
