Upon her husband’s death his will (which left his kingdom jointly to his wife and the empire) was ignored and his kingdom was forcibly annexed as if conquered. Boudica was flogged by the Romans and her daughters were raped. In response, Boudica plotted with neighboring tribes and became the leader of a rebellion. Three Roman towns were completely destroyed, including Londinium - ancient London - and an estimated 70,000 Romans were killed before the empire’s forces managed to halt the revolt. -- source link
