therothwoman:juvjuvychan:inbetweenthelineart:amy-face:trubr0wn:rigbaby:fuckyeahfeminists:Scarlett Johansson responds to sexist questions!“Is that inappropriate?”You are a shining example of our culture’s sense of entitlement to women’s bodies.props to scarlett for calling it out honestlyRemember the time she asked why the boys got all “the really cool thought-provoking questions’ and she got the ‘rabbit food question’and i stood up and clapped for her for calling it outUnless the interviewee initiates this topic…..don’t go there. It’s rude. :/It’s not even that it’s rude, it’s just sexist plain and simple. This guy thought it was totally a-okay to ask about what Scarlett was wearing under her clothes. Why would he think that’s appropriate? Because society conditions us to believe a woman’s body is not her own. It can be ogled and twisted, and dissected all for the male gaze without any consent given by her. The guy even tries to defend himself by saying “hey it’s not like I asked if you wore lace panties or anything” like way to miss the entire fucking point dude. You just shouldn’t be asking what’s underneath her costume. Period. It’s none of your business. And none of the guys get asked this question even though Chris and Jeremy also wore extremely tight costumes as well. It’s because Scar is a woman and therefore her body isn’t her own. Or at least that’s what this guy (and many others) seem to believe. This. Also, it’s nice to see that other actors have been picking up on this. I know there was a gifset going around the other day of Anne Hathaway pulling this move on another interview (maybe correct me on this, but I think it was the same interviewer here.) Also, there’s an interview with Tom Hiddleston that opens with him being asked who had the best butt in the cast, and after being pried for rather out-of-place comments about Scarlett’s catsuit Tom manages to shift the talk to “look, can we just take a few minutes to appreciate all the real legitimate hard work this woman has put in to do this role?”Good for her for not putting up with this shit. Honestly. -- source link
